JOIN us for a Reading Challenge @ the Hampden Public Library from January 19 to February 28, 2010.
VISIT Hampden Public Library at any point between January 19 and February 28.
FILL OUT a registration sheet and pick up a list of award-winning books or check out the Newbery Books, Caldecott Winners,Coretta Scott King Awards, or Complete List of Children's Book Awards
COME IN to the library when you have read at least one age-appropriate book from the list. Children who are not yet reading may have someone read the books to them.
RECORD YOUR PROGRESS on our Winners' Circle display in our Young Readers' Room (up to Grade 4) or the Young Adult Section in our mai library (Grades 5 and up)
Participants who read a set number of books will win medals to take home to celebrate their achievements.
SECOND SATURDAY STORYTIME
Join us on the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. for a program designed for children ages 3 to 5. They will be lead on an exciting adventure of books, games and crafts designed especially for 3-5 year olds. Approximate duration is 45 minutes to 1 hour, with optional social time provided afterwards for s in our Children's Room. ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUESTED. CALL 566-3047 TO SIGN UP.
INFANT AND TODDLER TIME - EVERY AT WEDNESDAY 11:00 A.M.
Join parents, grandparents and other caregivers for a fun-filled 45 minutes. Children will dance, sing, and listen to stories. This is a great way to meet other families. No registration is required.
BOOK DISCUSSION GROUPS
FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH AT 10:30 A.M. AT THE LIBRARY. Check the Events Calendar for the upcoming selections. No registration is required. Light refreshments are served. Each meeting last about 1 hour.
THIRD THURSDAY OF THE MONTH AT THE HAMPDEN SENIOR CENTER, ALLEN STREET, AT 12:30 P.M. Designed for those available during the day, this lively group is currently reading mysteries. No registration is required and you don't need to be a "senior" to attend. Check the Events Calendar for the upcoming selections.
